This ceramics+fiber piece has a square base glazed in raspberry. The exterior is embellished with a woven stripe made of three different art yarns I hand-spun just for this piece. The burgundy cotton cord I used for the weaving warp is intentionally visible on the inside, and additional cording was added at the top and bottom for visual interest. The size and heft of the piece makes it a functional vessel for mail or special objects, and the texture and palette of the fiber gives it an unexpected softness.
